City of Johannesburg: Internship Opportunities 2024 / 2025

 

The City of Johannesburg (CoJ) is offering Internship opportunities to suitably qualified and unemployed graduates. The Interships will run for a a period NOT exceeding eighteen (18) months. 

 

Interns will be required to sign an internship agreement, in additional to an employment contract, committing themselves to full participation in the educational and workplace assignments in accordance with laid-down policies and procedures.

 

Stipend: R9 531,54 pm (Basic Salary, no benefits)

Duration: 18 months contract

 


The following Internship Opportunities are open for applications:

 

Internship: Bus Operations and Scheduling

Department: Transport Department

Requirements: Diploma or Degree in Transport Management / Logistics Management

Duties: Daily monitoring and reporting of Rea Vaya bus operations including schedule recording of service demand statistics planning and modelling bus schedules to meet service delivery requirements. Daily monitor and manage the routing and scheduling function of buses. Compile and provide weekly report regarding bus operations.

Skills and Competencies: Good communication skills (verbal, listening and written). Computer Literacy- Microsoft Office Applications- Word, Excel & PowerPoint. Customer complaints and resolutions skills; Good coordination and Organising skills;


Internship: Business Management Support

Department: Human Settlements

Requirements: National Diploma in Graphic Design or a related art or design-based subject or qualification majoring or modules in Graphic Design. Design portfolio and examples of work required

Duties: Create visual communication to convey the department’s messages in an effective and aesthetically pleasing manner. This incorporates several tasks and responsibilities such as using graphic design tools including design software to design and proofread web pages, brochures and leaflets, charts and graphs, flow diagrams, infographics, presentation visuals, illustrations, publication design, cover designs, brochures, posters, logos, event programmes, digital banners, invitations, advertisements, and other communication material. Design or create communication materials through the use of technology, including computer software programmes. Consult and communicate on the design and production of communication materials. Using technology and graphic design tools to create visual products for use of dissemination on the department’s communication platforms.

Skills and Competencies: Strong Computer Literacy and Office applications. Artistic and creative. Familiarity with Computer Applications Technology/Design software. Understanding of HTML, and other web design applications. Planning and organizing. Language proficiency (reading and writing) in English;


Internship: Revenue Call Centre, Customer Services Centre

Department: Group Finance

Requirements: Relevant tertiary qualification at NQF level 6 or Higher (or student enrolled towards at NQF level 6 or higher qualification)

Duties: Provide a high level of Call Centre service, both telephonic and written, using initiative to analyse, identify account queries and process necessary procedures using all available resources in order to resolve revenue related queries on first point on contact, logging and/or escalating all the queries that cannot be resolved to the relevant department, whilst meeting or exceeding targets set by the R & CRM department and the needs of customers. To apply set standard operational procedures in logging of all revenue accounts related queries related to all services officers by the City of Joburg for further processing by the relevant back-end department while queries relating to first time resolution are logged and resolved immediately. Perform specific sequences associated with maintaining electronically based information /data/records.

Skills and Competencies: Computer Literacy- (Microsoft Office Applications). Problem solving skills. Good Time management. Excellent listening and communication skills (verbal and written). Excellent Interpersonal skills. Basic knowledge of billing concepts and functions. Knowledge Retention and recall. Capability to handle pressure. Ability to interpret mathematical information. Attention to detail and accuracy;


Internship: Intake Officer

Department: Group Finance

Requirements: National Diploma / Degree (NQF Level 6 or higher) in Public Administration / Business Administration / Office Administration / Administration / Business Management / Public Management

Duties: Provide effective and comprehensive administrative support and logistical services to Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) unit to ensure the efficiency of the business unit. Coordinate administrative requirements associated with employee assistance Programme functionality. Promote the efficiency of the Employee Assistance Programme. Collate and prepare qualitative and quantitative information for inclusion into specific statutory reports;
