About the Discovery Internship Programme

An Internship is a structured development programme that offers unemployed graduates the opportunity to gain practical, on-the-job experience. Launched in 2006, the Discovery Internship Programme has supported the growth and career development of more than 480 graduates, with an average of 71% securing permanent roles after completing the programme. Interns are given the opportunity to work alongside high-performing teams and develop the skills needed to succeed in fast-paced, professional environments over the course of the 12-month programme.

The Internship provides practical exposure within the Group Life Operations team, where interns support essential administrative and operational activities. This includes assisting across areas such as underwriting processes, GEP administration, lump sum claims, billing, disability management, and back-office functions. Through hands-on involvement, interns build a solid understanding of group life insurance operations while contributing to accuracy, efficiency, and service delivery.

Internship Programme - Group Life

• Matric / Grade 12 is essential.
• BCom Degree or Honours
• No work experience (Essential)
• Between the ages of 18 – 30 (Essential)
• You must be a South African Citizen by Birth or by naturalization before the 27th April 1994.

Internship - Service Consultant

• Matric / Grade 12 is essential.
• A minimum of 2 years Call Centre experience
• A minimum of 1 years’ experience within the financial services industry
• Working experience within a LISP would be advantageous
• Related BComm Degree is advantageous
• Computer literacy: Proficient in MS Office (essential)

Internship - Servicing Administrator

• Matric with minimum 2 years Linked Investment Service Provider (LISP) experience.
• Knowledge and understanding of Long-Term Insurance Act and Pension Fund Act on Section 50 and Section 14 transfers.
• Knowledge and understanding of Retirement Products
• LISP (Linked Investment Service Provider) administration experience.
