Krutham: 6-month Rotational Internship Programme

We are seeking exceptional candidates for our structured 6-month rotational Internship Programme based at our head office in Sandton, Johannesburg. This full-time position requires a commitment of 40 hours per week and offers a monthly stipend. This unique opportunity allows interns to gain comprehensive exposure to our diverse business units through a carefully designed rotation system, spending three months in each of two complementary areas of our business.

Our Business Units

1. Capital markets, politics and macroeconomics
You will help our team research and analyse market-moving developments, political and economic risks, and the impact of regulations. You will assist in preparing reports and insights that guide investors, governments, and businesses in making strategic decisions.

2. Banking and financial sector policy
Here, you will support work with banks, regulators, philanthropies, and global organisations. Your tasks may include analysing policy frameworks, research innovative financial solutions, and help prepare recommendations that address key socioeconomic challenges.

3. Impact advisory, impact capital and impact management
In this unit, you will contribute to projects that link financial and social impact. You will explore how ESG (environmental, social and governance) issues influence investments, assist in developing impact structures such as outcome funds, and help monitor impact vehicles to ensure they deliver both financial returns and positive social change.

4. Just energy transition and infrastructure
You will be involved in research and analysis on how economies can move from carbon-intensive industries to greener, sustainable futures. This includes advising on infrastructure finance, public pipelines, and policy issues related to energy transition. You may also assist in transaction-related due diligence.

Requirements:

Academic Qualifications:

• Honours, Master's or PhD degree (near completion within the next three months or recently completed in the last three months)
• Strong academic record in relevant disciplines including Economics, Finance, Statistics, Public Policy, Political Science, Engineering, Philosophy, Sociology, Environmental Science, or related fields

Essential Attributes:

• Exceptional analytical and research capabilities
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in Excel; experience with statistical software advantageous
• Interest in financial markets, policy analysis, and/or sustainability
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, client-focused environment
• Commitment to full-time engagement (40 hours per week) for the full six-month duration in our Sandton office.

Preferred Experience:

• Academic track record of producing research in financial markets, policy, sustainability or impact investment
• Familiarity with financial databases and market analysis tools
