Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE): Bursaries 2026

The JSE Empowerment Fund (JEF) is inviting students to apply for their bursary programme, for the 2026 academic year.

Bursaries will be awarded for Undergraduate and Postgraduate (Honours level) studies, at selected universities, within the following fields:

• Computer Science
• Mathematics
• Actuarial Science
• Information Technology
• Informatics
• Data Analytics
• Economics
• Finance
• Accounting

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must satisfy the following minimum entry criteria before applying:

• You must be a South African citizen
• You must have completed Matric
• You must be studying full-time towards a degree qualification, within one of the fields of study listed above
• You must be entering your 2nd, 3rd or Postgraduate (Honours) level of study in 2026
• You must be studying at one of these Universities in South Africa:

1. University of Pretoria (UP),
2. University of Johannesburg (UJ),
3. University of the Witwatersrand (Wits),
4. University of Cape Town (UCT),
5. University of Limpopo (UL),
6. University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN),
7. University of the Free State (UFS),
8. University of Fort Hare (UFH),
9. Nelson Mandela University (NMU),
10. North-West University (NWU)

• You must have achieved a minimum overall average of 70%
• You must have a total household income of NOT more than R650 000 per annum
• You must be from a previously disadvantaged background
