The Xylem SA Trust invites applications for its 2026 Bursary Programme. This opportunity is directed at students whose studies and career paths align with South Africa’s urgent need for skills in water and water-linked sustainability.
Fields of Study
The bursary is open to students in disciplines such as (but not limited to):
- Water Engineering & Infrastructure (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical with water applications)
- Environmental Sciences & Management (Hydrology, Aquatic Ecosystems, Pollution Control)
- Sustainability & Climate Studies (Resilience Planning, Circular Economy, Renewable Energy Integration)
- Agriculture & Food Security (Irrigation, Watershed Management, Climate-Smart Farming)
- Public Health & Social Sciences (Water, Sanitation, Hygiene and Health Linkages)
- Emerging Technologies (Digital Solutions, Data Science, Monitoring and Conservation Tools)
Requirements:
Applicants must:
- Be South African citizens.
- Be registered (or accepted for registration) at a recognised South African university or university of technology for the 2026 academic year.
- Be enrolled in a field of study linked to water and sustainability (see sectoral focus areas above).
- Demonstrate strong academic performance or potential.
- Submit a complete application with all required supporting documents (certified ID copy, latest academic record, proof of registration/admission, and a motivation letter).
- Clearly explain how their studies and career goals will contribute to addressing South Africa’s water and sustainability challenges.
- Apply by the strict deadline of 28 November 2025.
