Accommodation

Nearest universities: University of Cape Town (UCT), Varsity College, CPUT, FEDISA, and INSCAPE as well as other colleges.

Spes Bona is approved by the Department of Education and the University of Cape town as a residence for female students pursuing tertiary studies. In addition, our residents study at various other tertiary institutions such as UCT, VEGA, FEDISA, and INSCAPE as well as other colleges.

Where we are
We are situated at 44 Hof Street, Gardens, opposite the Mediclinic hospital. We are conveniently situated close to major transport nodes, including the my City bus route and Jammie shuttle. Please see below map.

Our Student Accommodation

• The residence has 2 TV lounges with DSTV, a common room with a piano, a dining room, a coffee bar and an extensive landscaped garden. 
• The residence has single and double bedrooms, which are furnished simply.
• Students provide their own bedding.
• The rooms are fitted with LED lights, heating panels and book shelves.
• First year students share bedrooms, and the single bedrooms are allocated on a first come first serve basis, based on seniority.

Catering
Spes is renowned for its hearty home cooked food and catering is provided by two experienced cooks.

Security
We realize that the personal safety and security of young female residents is of tantamount importance to parents. Spes has an alarm system, CCTV, a front gate intercom, 24 hour guarding and 24 hour access control as each resident accesses the premises using an electronic access tag.

In addition, we are part of the Oranjekloof  CID, we regularly consult with our security company to update our security system, and parking (see note below) in a lighted area is available on site.

Computers and Internet access

• Spes has a state of the art WIFI system and students are allocated 3GB per month as part of their residence fees. 
• Additional data bundles can be purchased for R30 per GB, but will be provided free of charge if shown to be required for study purposes.
• In addition, there is a computer room with 2 computers and printers for use by the students.

Parking

• There is ample off street parking surrounding the residence.  
• ​In addition, there are a limited number of secure off street parking bays available at R3000 per annum and these are allocated, subject to availability, on a first come first serve basis.
• ​Application for parking is made at the time of application for residence.

Cleaning and laundry

• Washing and ironing of bedding is provided for by the Residence on an outsourced basis, and the cost hereof is included in the fees.
• Personal laundry is the responsibility of each student as there are coin operated top loaded washing machines and tumble dryers on the premises.
• ​​Laundry fees are R15 per wash and R15 per dry.
