Adendorff Machinery Mart: Junior Accountant

Accounting career opportunity at Adendorff Machinery Mart- a well established private retail company of over 30 years with a reputation for quality tools, machinery and excellent service.

This job is well suited to:

• Recent tertiary education graduates with a focus on accounting.
• Persons who have recently completed or had been involved with their accounting articles.
• Persons at the start of their career as an accounting professional with appropriate qualifications and a few years work experience.

Salary expectations:

• Salaries offered for this role will be dependent on aptitude, experience and qualifications.
• Successful applicants can expect an offered salary range between R20k- R28k.

Responsibilities:

• All accounting entries from start to financial statements.
• Preparation of year end trial balance for the annual audit.
• Bank processing and reconciliations.
• Preparing monthly invoices, journals, cashbooks and reconciliations e.g. VAT, petrol and credit cards.
• Processing of all supplier invoices and reconciliation of all supplier accounts on weekly basis, all suppliers due for payment to be loaded to the weekly payment list.
• Reconciliation of all debtor’s accounts on daily basis in order to keep debtors accounts as low as possible, follow up with customers for payment advise and dates of payment.
• Inter-company loan account reconciliations.
• General ledger reconciliations.
• Point of Sale reconciliations.
• Clearing control and suspense accounts.
• Processing journals – e.g. depreciation, provisions, interest, salaries, stock, etc.
• VAT submissions and reconciliation.
• Processing and reconciling of petty cash and cash control accounts.
• Keeping of a fixed asset register, correct accounting treatment on disposal of assets (property, plant & equipment).
• Accurate and systematic filing.
• Professional presentation of work.

Requirements:

• Formal Tertiary qualification in Accounting.
