Fedeem: Professional Cookery Learnership Programme 2024

Feedem Group is offering a 12-month Professional Cookery Learnership for Matriculants interested in pursuing a career as a chef. This opportunity could lead to cooking on a superyacht or cruise ship, providing training in professional cookery.

Programme outcomes include: 

• Provide customer service
• Maintain effective working relationships with other members of staff
• Maintain health, hygiene and professional appearance 
• Maintain hygiene in food preparation, cooking and storage 
• Prepare fruit for hot and cold dishes 
• Prepare vegetables for hot and cold dishes 
• Handle and maintain knives 
• Accept and store food deliveries 
• Handle and Maintain Utensils and Equipment 
• Handle and Store Food 
• Clean food production areas and equipment 
• Clean and store crockery and cutlery 
• Prepare and cook basic meat, poultry, game or offal dishes 
• Prepare and cook basic sauces and soups 
• Clean food production areas, equipment and utensils 
• Maintain a cleaning programme for kitchen areas and equipment 
• Maintain and promote food hygiene in the kitchen 

Learnership Benefits:

• Monthly stipend of R3500 during the learnership
• Practical experience for three weeks at a site near home and one week of theory in Parow, Cape Town
• Training provided at no cost

Requirements:

• Unemployed South African citizens,
• Between the ages 18-26 years old,
• Must have a Grade 12 certificate or equivalent.
