City of Johannesburg: Climate Change Interns (Environmental Sciences/Management, Energy Studies Graduates)

The City of Johannesburg (CoJ), Environmental and Infrastructure Service Department (EISD) is offering Internship opportunities to suitably qualified and unemployed graduates. The Interships will run for a a period NOT exceeding eighteen (18) months.

Position Title: Climate Change Adaption Internship

Department: Environmental and Infrastructure Service Department (EISD)

Duration: 18 Months contract

Stipend: R9 531,54 pm

Location: Traduna House, 118 Jorissen Street, Braamfontein

Primary Function: Facilitate and coordinate climate change initiatives within the city, including the development of policies, strategies and plans to ensure the climate change is implemented within the City.

Responsibilities:

• Administration and record keeping;
• Provide support to the development of the city’s Climate Action Tracking tools.
• Compile a report summarizing the findings and recommendations from site visits and share it with relevant parties.

Requirements:

Degree (NQF level 7) in:

• Environmental Management,
• Environmental Sciences,
• or Energy studies
• or related field

Skills and Competencies:

• Computer literacy including MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Good Communication skills.
• Project management skills.
• Coordinating skills.
• Report writing.
• Basic knowledge of Climate change Science;
• Knowledge of the Climate Change Act.
• Collaborative/Teamwork, Values and Integrity, Attention to detail, and quality-focused;
• Customer and Service Delivery Management (Batho Pele) Ethics, Professionalism.
