FAIS Ombud: Graduate Internship Programme 2025

In order to discharge its mandate, the FAIS Ombud seeks to appoint Graduate Trainees as part of the Graduate Training Programme.  This is a structured programme specifically designed to produce a pipeline of competent trainee entrants to the labour market.

Duration - The duration of the programme is twelve (12) months.

• Exposure to working in a target-driven environment on complaints received by the public against financial service providers and to move same towards a resolution in a procedurally fair, informal, economical and expeditious manner.
• Working in a team of experienced lawyers, financial planner(s), Investigators and negotiators.

Marketing and Communication Graduate Trainee

Requirements: Diploma or Degree (NQF 6/ 7) in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or related field. Must be a South African citizen.

Duties: Develop engaging and compelling content for various marketing channels, including social media, emails, and promotional materials. Assist in managing and growing our social media presence by creating and curating relevant content. Collaborate with the marketing team to support the planning and execution of marketing campaigns. Conduct research to identify market trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences. Work closely with the communications team to ensure consistent and effective messaging across all channels. Plan and coordinate outreach initiatives to engage with the community, partners, and target audience.

Skills and Competencies: Passion for public service and an interest/desire to work in the Financial Sector. Strong academic background and high levels of integrity. Must be able to work in a stressful environment, willing to learn and work extra hours. Energetic, self-driven and deadline driven. Must be computer literate.

Supply Chain Management Graduate Trainee

Requirements: Diploma or Degree (NQF 6/ 7) in Supply Chain Management or Logistics. Must be a South African citizen.

Duties: Forecasting and anticipating customer demand to ensure adequate inventory and production levels. Choosing reliable and cost-effective suppliers. Establishing favorable terms with suppliers. Tracking supplier performance to ensure quality and on-time delivery. 

Skills and Competencies: Passion for public service and an interest/desire to work in the Financial Sector. Strong academic background and high levels of integrity. Must be able to work in a stressful environment, willing to learn and work extra hours. Energetic, self-driven and deadline driven. Must be computer literate.

Adjudication Graduate Trainee

Requirements: LLB degree. PLT (Practical Legal Training) will be an advantage. Must be a South African citizen.

Duties: Facilitate fair negotiations and settlements when appropriate. Interact respectfully with all parties involved in the process. Analyse evidence and arguments thoroughly and objectively. Adjudicate cases promptly and manage workload effectively. Maintain the security and confidentiality of case information. Ensure unbiased, ethical, and conflict-free decision-making. Clearly articulate rulings and explain legal concepts effectively.
